You may not have educational rights. Do not assume you can openly talk to the child's teacher. Make sure you have educational rights. Talk to the child's SW to understand your role. 

Request a back to school reimbursement. Many counties will provide an extra back-to-school reimbursement. Check with your social worker!

Talk to your foster child about their story. How will your foster child explain their living situation to people at school? Practice and align. 

Keep things easy for the first week. Consider canceling appointments/meetings to make the week easier for the child to ease into the transition and new schedule.
